Pope was born in Kent (1811) and was attracted to the Americas aged 23. Extensive travel in the NE United States and Upper Canada led to him settling in Ontario. This volume reproduces extracts from his daily journals, supported by copies of his excellent watercolours, artistically comparable to Audubon.

More recently bound in half-leather over cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration all in fine condition.
The Scottish artist Jemima Blackburn, was known for her illustrations of life in rural Scotland, and for her ornithological works.

Norfolk is famed as the best county in Britain for year round birdwatching and this book considers the importance of the area from both a national and international perspective. James McCallum's watercolours compliment the text with outdoor paintings and sketches completed on location.
