The Zoological Society of London holds 43 volumes of highly detailed illustrations by British army officer, Major Henry Jones (1838-1921). They contain some 1,200 watercolours of birds. To mark the 150th anniversary of the Society’s foundation, 24 of these drawings were beautifully reproduced in this volume. Each plate is accompanied by text prepared by Bruce Campbell. Among the birds depicted are ptarmigans, pheasants, bustards, turacos, kingfishers, orioles, and jays.
