1st. Ed. Pub. Macmillan & Co. 1902 pp.xxiii, 461 with b/w. photos. and illus. throughout. 8vo. Hardback. TEG. Contents fine. Some sections uncut. Original decorated boards with gilt lettering exceptional and in fine condition. A very pleasing copy.
This work begins with a detailed treatise on all aspects of sun-dials, from classification, through construction, to the setting of sun-dials; followed by what are essentially a series of essays, on Roses and the theme of the Rose as an emblem, including a chapter on the Rosicrucians, a mysterious sect that arose in Europe in the 17th Century.
