Hawker, R.J. The Earliest Record of Beekeeping in Northern England. 1st. Ed. Pub. NBB. 2015
pp.90 with b/w. illus. Large 8vo. Nr. fine softback.
The manuscript ‘A Treatise of Bees’ was written between 1644 to 1658 by a beekeeper calling themselves F. Arm. In this volume, Bob Hawker details the methods as recorded in the manuscript. ‘The bee-hive he devised and management techniques he employed are described, analysed and compared with those previously considered to have been at the forefront of the craft at that time.’. Also, Hawker is able to confidently reveal the identity of the hitherto unknown Northumberland beekeeper.
