This volume was published to support the exhibition ‘Margaret Mee : Return to the Amazon’ held in the USA between 1997 and 1999. Gren Lucas, (then Keeper of the Herbarium and Library at Kew) was the person behind the concept of the exhibition and as she explains in her Acknowledgements was ‘an invaluable help’ and provided unstinting support to Ruth Stiff, the Curator.
