Original, gilt lettered and richly decorated green cloth in nr. fine condition. A superb set of the preferred second edition.
With neat handwritten period notes to the Great Auk entry thus ‘Lord Lilford obtained at Stevens’ auction rooms on Friday July 2nd 18_, 2 Auk’s eggs for over £100 each’ and ‘Another five specimens bought by Mr Field at Stevens for 160 guineas. 18 Dec 1887.’.
