Five parts of this 215 part, 63 volume encyclopaedia. With 19 colour lithograph plates, heightened by hand, and 5 b/w. plates. Large 4to. Softbacks. Text pages uncut. Contents fine. In original paper wrappers in vg. to thor. vg. condition, with just a little wear to the base of the spines and around the edges. Scarce.
These five parts of this monumental work deal almost exclusively with coleoptera and neuroptera with just one section devoted to fish. The 19 colour plates are all of coleoptera, with 4 black and white plates devoted to fish and 1 black and white plate to neuroptera. Although several volumes have been reprinted, original parts of this work are scarce, having been printed on acid paper which becomes brittle over time and suffers fom handling. The pages of these five parts are uncut and have never been read.
