A collaborator with Vanburgh, Gibbs and Kent, Bridgeman was influential in the transition from goemetric layouts of the 1700s to the freer designs of Capability Brown. His masterpiece is Stowe in Buckinghamshire. This edition contains, in addition to the original, new material, notably plans, from the Gough Collection and Bodleian Library published together for the first time.
