Explorer, ornithologist and priest, Henry Baker Tristram was a remarkable man who amassed extensive natural history collections. Importantly, he was the first scientist to support Charles Darwin in print. Furthermore, Tristram and Darwin corresponded with Darwin using (and attributing) Tristram’s observations of the larks and chats of North Africa in ‘The Descent of Man’.
