Linnaeus, Carl, (with Introduction by William T. Stearn). Genera Plantarum. Facs. Rep. 5th. Ed. Pub. Engelmann (Cramer) & Wheldon & Whesley. 1960
pp.xxxii, 500. 8vo. Hardback. A thor. vg. copy in green cloth boards.
Facsimile reprint of the fifth and final edition revised by Linnaeus and published in 1754. In his introduction, William T. Stearn wrote “The clear typographical layout, the elimination of verbs such as est, occupat and abit, and the much greater detail given for all floral parts, notably the stamens and the nectaries, immediately catch the attention. Such improvement in technique made Linnaeus’s Genera Plantarum the model for later works on the genera of plants.”
