Hortus Floridus was first published in English in 1615, an elegant and important anthology of the flowers to be found in a cultivated Dutch 17th century garden. The 100 copper engraved plates are divided among the four seasons, and every flower has a full description. translated from the original Latin by Spencer Savage. A long introduction by Eleanor Sinclair Rohde, setting in perspective the finely conceived engravings by Van de Pass.
