pp.xii, 91 with 42 lithographed plates drawn from nature by the author’s daughter. A minor amount of spotting, o/w. contents in fine condition. More recently rebound in quarter-calf leather, with raised bands , gilt decoration and lettering to spine, over green cloth boards - lightly marked, all in thoroughly vg. condition.

Hugh Ronalds was noted for growing fruit trees and by 1829 he was growing 300 varieties. This was celebrated in his book in which he described the apples he thought ‘most excellent’. He supplied many plants to Kew Gardens between 1801 and 1816 and his nursery supplied some 14,000 shrubs for Kensal Green Cemetery.
