Royal College of Surgeons, the only indications of this being stamps on the title pages. Contents fine. More recently rebound in blue cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, all in fine condition. Very scarce.

1st. Ed. Pub. under supervision of John Murray. 1884-89 pp.xxiii, [i], 216, 36 plates, fold-out map; viii, 47, 10 plates; 41, 3 plates. Very minor amount of foxing to Supplementary Report, o/w. contents in fine condition. More recently rebound in green cloth closely resembling original binding. Fine condition.
Considered second only to Darwin’s voyage aboard the ‘Beagle’ for its contributions to 19th century science, the voyage of the ‘Challenger’ founded the scientific discipline of oceanography.
