A very pleasing copy of the first edition, first issue, identifiable given the tan cloth binding and gilt lion decoration to the front board. Brocklehurst was a contemporary and friend of Arthur de Carle Sowerby. Beneath the inscription to Barbara, the following is written, ‘Barbara J. Barlow (fiancee), nee Freeman Taylor’.
