From the library of Prof. Grenville (Gren) Lucas OBE, much loved botanist and conservationist. Title-page inscribed ‘to Gren with love and thanks from Celia’. Loosely inserted is a brief letter to Gren from Celia Fisher introducing her book and inviting him to ‘come and help me launch it’ and on the reverse of the letter is a proof page which she suggests demonstrates her efforts to ‘expand the Renaissance and flowers into places not generally searched.’
In this book the author focuses on twenty favourite flowers and brings them to the fore in detailed illustrations of renaissance paintings and tapestries.

Almost all the illustrations are by Asian and Middle Eastern artists. Describes over seventy plants that originated in Asia and the Middle East.

With a further dedication to Gren presenting this copy to him in memory of his friendship with Oscar Forel (dated Aug. 2019). A wonderful copy.
A collection of photographs of bark, made by the psychiatrist and photographer Oscar Forel to illustrate the harmony of colours to be found in nature, phenomena he called Synchromies.
