Waydelin, F.J. Adventures Among Birds.
1st. Ed. Pub. James Whitaker (Peregrine Books). 2008 pp.xiv, 167 with some b/w. photography. Royal 8vo. New hdbk. in new dw. Limited to 100 copies. Out-of-print.
Frederick J Waydelin, dedicated egg collector, came to write this book, completing it in a typed version in 1944; but it remained unpublished. Waydelin was admitted to the British Ornithologists’ Union in 1920, but his membership was shortlived, and his resignation in 1922 may well have been connected to his egg collecting exploits. Later in the mid 1930s he ceased egg collecting and rejoined the B.O.U. (1934), but again his membership was shortlived and he resigned for the second time in 1936. An interesting historical account.
