Some light spotting to fore-edges of text blocks and ends o/w. contents fine, in thor. vg. to nr. fine dws. Vol. II has, attached to the front pastedown, a charming letter (on headed notepaper and dated 21st January 1962) from David Bannerman to David Boddington. In it Bannerman explains that he will be staying on the island of Madeira at the same time that Boddington would be there for his honeymoon. He says that it will be the wrong time of year for Petrels and for landing on the Desertas. He acknowledged that given the reason for Boddington’s visit, the might not want to, but that if Boddington did want to meet up for birding, then he would happily do so. Bannerman also gives the address where he was staying. Also, loosely inserted is the newspaper obituary of Madeiran ornithologist Alec Zino.
